Well.. somehow my own circumstances the past week taught me a thing or two about this topic. I believe God always uses my circumstances to teach me a thing or two about Him or just about myself. Chris Cheok, if you're reading this sometime after 1st Sept, please bear this in mind. :D
Anyway, as i saying, the past week was particularly tough for me. Somehow, i felt unnaturally sian of everything. Bored of studying, bored of being at home, and to an extent, bored of life. In fact, about an hour ago, i was just telling someone that i'm pretty confused - cos i really din know why i was feeling the way i was feeling or even whether there was a remedy for it.
Until i went to my prayer closet did God shed light on the void in my life. Somehow, the sian-ness was a void in my life. The missing piece of the puzzle crying out, seeking to be met. You know, very often, we Christians like to say that having God in our lives is a wonderful thing and that we've found what we are looking for in life. The very drive that causes teens to turn to sex, drugs, alcohol or just wasting their lives away. Well, having God in my life has been wonderful, but that void is still there. It is still there and will always be there, until I meet my creator, i will not live without that void, constantly tugging me and telling me that i need to search for a deeper, more logical meaning to life.
To say truthfully, these voids cause us to be self-centred, egocentric little people. Just examining what i would have said in the past week, i realized i've become so inward looking that i look to my own strength, my own means to try to meet this void. Something i would have said would be "I dont want lar, i dont feel like doing it leh." or "sian, qt, so bored, i really dont feel like doing leh" These just about show the about of self-centered at play. Because i dont feel like it, i dont do, etc.
What i believe is that through these voids, i have to choose to continue to honour God, though it would seem tough. I mean, why would anyone want to pray when he is feeling bored. After all, prayer seems to be an even more boring thing. But we've gotta choose to honour God, choose the right thing rather than the light things, or the things we want to do.
After all, Christ did mention choosing the narrow path which leads to life(matt7:14), rather than the broad path which leads to destruction. Frankly, on the road, no one would choose the narrow path because it signifies danger and insecurity. The fact that it is narrow means that it wasnt used by many people as compared to the broad one. It also shows insecurity, because a narrow path can lead to anywhere, whereas a big broad path(like a main road) will definitely lead to somewhere important. But the thing is this, on the narrow path, it is dangerous, rocky and you definitely would not be assured of where you will land in, but, it is a path where you will learn to depend on God.
So yup, again, Chris Cheok, if you're reading this, always remember that when you're walking along this narrow path, you are bound to feel insecure, feel a sense of danger and you may feel lost. You may feel a magnification of the void in your life, as though u have lose a sense of meaning in your life. And thats when u hafta trust and believe that His wings will always be with me, just as it was in the past. :D
