I was reading Cure for the common life when i got reminded of this: Always learn to take a step back. I think this is one lesson God has been trying to instill in me for some time now.

Im a self-professed workaholic. If I have work, like preparing for camp or organizing something, i can work til 3am and wake up at 8am just to settle everything. Machiam like hyper mode. Haha. So yup, since before church camp til now, God has been telling me through various means that i ought to learn to take a step back; to learn to give myself time to sort through my thoughts when i work. I cant be working 24/7, and God has been faithfully showing me that.
I'm like a bull when i work, i head straight for the crux of the work and bump into every obstacle along the way, so taking a step back means also that i refresh my thoughts and further consider why i'm doing what im doing. Its a chance, an opportunity to realign my objectives and purpose in life. Its taking a step back from my work and asking myself honestly if i still remember why im spending so much time on the things i do and whether they are really worth it. Its like the times you quarrel with friends and end the quarrel with "thats what i've been trying to say all along" or the "but you never listened to me." At times, we are just so engrossed with whatever we are doing that we miss out on certain things, such as listening to advice, or even the little voice within ourselves crying out!
Taking a step back also means giving myself time for rest. Work is never complete without rest. If God(another workaholic, btw) decides to work for only 6 days and rest on the 7th, how much more should i rest right. After all, with one sentence, He created the earth. With one sentence, i think the most i can do is order some food on the phone. Theres this chinese saying that goes, rest is meant for us to go a longer way.
So yep, i will soon be marching very long paths, so i should learn to take more rests. :D
