Grasshopper

I remember church camp several years ago, when a pastor shared a sermon on Grasshoppers. It left a lasting impression on me, probably becos it was always something i could identify with. (Num 13) Basically, the people of Israel were in the desert(wilderness). They were supposed to enter the Canaan land. At this point in time, Canaan was occupied by the descendants of Anak, who were giants. So, hearing the report, the people started to fear and compare themselves with grasshoppers.
You know, just like the people of Israel, many a times, I feel like a grasshopper in this land of giants. At times, the people around me just seem like giants, so unreachable, so... perfect. Somehow, the people around me just seem so happy at times, so happy that it seems totally unattainable by my means.
It is at such times, when you seem small, when you must really learn to depend on God. Honestly, i dont believe im the only one who feels like this. Because i believe that such feelings point us to our creator. These feelings cause us to once again, go on our knees to confess our need for Him. Because it is through our weakness, that his life is perfected. 2 Cor 12:9.
Lord, when im feeling small, when im feeling like such a grasshopper, may Your love just pull through to show me that no matter how big the world is, it is still not any bigger than You. Lord, i pray that through this, You teach me to depend on You and see things the way You see it, that i may be like Caleb to say that I can go at once and i can certainly conquer it!. In Your precious name, Amen.
